As the GIS Analyst, you will report to the GIS Administrator, and will be responsible for providing technical support for Northern Star Resource’s GIS data and software whilst ensuring there is an effective spatial/GIS database and appropriate systems to store, analyse and manage the data/ Additionally, you will provide effective and efficient support for GIS support for GIS users in the use of appropriate GIS techniques and data.
Key responsibilities of your role include:
Providing GIS support to users, programs and projects within NSR using a variety of software tools, scripting languages, datasets and presentation methods.
Guiding and assisting users across NSR in the capturing, manipulating and attributing of spatial information using a variety of software tools (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS desktop, ArcGIS Online and other ESRI applications) and mobile hardware.
Assisting in the development and maintenance of NSR GIS data infrastructure. Contributing to ongoing data maintenance, promotion and planning of NSR GIS.
Assisting in the development and delivery of user training and providing support services for NSR users of GIS systems.
Preparing spatial data for mobile GIS apps.
Assisting in the development of spatial analysis procedures and tools and implementing sound documentation practices.
Assisting with the maintenance of metadata and process/application documentation.
Performing any other assigned GIS related duties that are within the employee’s competence and training.
What we are looking for:
Degree majoring in Geology and/or Information Technology from a recognised tertiary institution.
Minimum 2 years relevant experience, preferably in the mining industry.
Solid understanding of the core principles of GIS and geo-spatial data management.
A high level of computer literacy with experience in the use and deployment of ESRI ArcGIS suite (cloud, server and desktop) preferred.
Good communication skills.
Current WA ‘C’ Class drivers’ licence.
